Setting up a New E-mail Account in Thunderbird

(replace SERVER with your server win or nix) |

To setup a new e-mail account in Thunderbird, follow the steps below.
If the Account Wizard does not open automatically
when you open Thunderbird (this usually happens until an account is setup), click
File, New, Account.

Click Email account, then click Next.

Enter your name as you wish others to see it within the Your Name
box, then your email address within the Email Address box. Click
Next to continue.

Ensure POP remains selected, then enter your POP3 and SMTP servers. Click
Next.

Enter your complete email address. Click
Next.

And again, enter your complete email address and click
Next.

Uncheck the Download messages now box, then click
Finish.

Click Tools, Account Settings.

On the left, click Outgoing Server (SMTP),
then click the email account, and the Edit button.

Set the Port to 587.
Ensure that Use secure connection is set to No.
Click OK.

Click the Email account, then select
the SMTP account to created above.

Click the Server Settings item on the
left associated with your account.
- Ensure the Port is 110.
- Ensure that Use secure connection is set to Never.
- Optionally, check the box to Leave messages on server,
and For at most, in order to leave a copy of your messages on the server
temporarily.
Click OK to
exit the e-mail account settings window. You're done! Congratulations!
